Artwork Guidelines
To ensure the highest quality results, all artwork must meet our production standards before printing begins. Production begins only after artwork approval and file confirmation.
1. File Quality & Resolution
For best results:
- Minimum 300 DPI at final print size
- Artwork must be sized correctly before submission
- Do not upscale small images - this reduces quality
- We can redo any artwork you have for a fee
Low-resolution images will print blurry or pixelated. If your file does not meet quality standards, we will request a replacement before production.
2. Accepted File Formats
We recommend submitting:
- PNG (transparent background, 300 DPI)
- AI (Adobe Illustrator)
- SVG
- EPS (vector)
- PSD (high resolution, layered preferred)
Avoid:
- Screenshots
- Images downloaded from Google
- Social media images
- Low-quality JPEGs
3. Text & Fonts
- All fonts must be converted to outlines (vector files)
- Double-check spelling before submission
- Small or thin fonts may not print or embroider cleanly
1170 Designs is not responsible for spelling errors in approved artwork.
4. Color Expectations
- CMYK files are preferred for DTF printing
- Colors may appear differently on screens vs. printed garments
- Slight color variations are normal due to fabric type and material
We are not responsible for color differences caused by monitor settings or file setup errors.
If exact color matching is required, please notify us before production.
5. DTF Transfer Artwork
For Direct-to-Film transfers:
- Submit with a transparent background
- Remove mockups or background layers
- Size artwork to exact print dimensions
- Ensure high contrast for best results
For gang sheets:
- Confirm spacing and layout before submission
- We are not responsible for layout errors on customer-built sheets
6. Embroidery Artwork
For embroidery projects:
- Vector files are strongly preferred
- Fine details, gradients, and very thin lines may require adjustments
- Small text may not be stitchable
New logos require digitizing (one-time setup fee).
Artwork may be modified slightly to ensure stitch quality and durability.
7. UV & Large Format Printing
For rigid materials and signage:
- Provide exact dimensions
- Include bleed if required
- Convert fonts to outlines
- Confirm material compatibility
Surface texture and material type may affect final appearance.
8. Placement & Sizing Responsibility
Unless otherwise specified:
- Standard adult chest prints are approximately 10-12 inches wide
- Youth sizes may be scaled proportionally
If you require exact placement or dimensions, clearly state this before production.
Once artwork is approved, sizing and placement are considered final.
9. Proof Approval
When proofs are provided:
- Review carefully
- Confirm spelling, layout, size, and placement
- Provide written approval
Production begins only after approval.
1170 Designs is not responsible for errors missed during proof review.
